AKUFO-ADDO CALLS ON PRESBY MODERATOR, NATIONAL CHIEF IMAM


The 2012 Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has met the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), Rt. Rev. Professor Emmanuel Martey, at his office in Accra.

As part of a series of meetings to inform stakeholders in country about the decision he has taken regarding his political future, Nana Addo’s meeting with Rt. Rev. Professor Emmanuel Martey was also to inform the latter about his arrival in Ghana.

Nana Addo said it was important that even before his much anticipated announcement on Thursday, March 20, certain key persons in the country are informed directly on the decision he has taken regarding his political future. Continue reading

NANA AKUFO-ADDO CALLS ON OSU MANTSE

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo this afternoon paid a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief of Osu Traditional Area, Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI, at the Osu Palace.

Accompanied by Sheikh I.C. Quaye, former Greater Accra Regional Chairman; Prof. Mike Oquaye, former 2nd Deputy Speaker of Parliament; Stanley Adjiri Blankson, former Accra Metropolitan Authority boss; Ishmael Ashitey, Nana Addo’s call on the Osu Mantse forms part of a series stakeholder meetings he has undertaken since he arrived in Ghana.

Presenting four bottles of schnapps and an undisclosed sum of money to the Osu Mantse, Nana Akufo-Addo explained to the Osu Mantse that the purpose of his call was to announce formally his arrival into the country after taking a brief break from active politics. Continue reading

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the 2012 Presidential candidate of the main opposition party the NPP on Monday took a swipe at the NDC and President Mahama when he responded to a question on whether we can have a consensus as a country on a national development planning agenda.

At a symposium organised by the Royal African Society and the Centre of African Studies in London, Nana Akufo-Addo who was speaking on the theme ‘Ghana, 57 years after 1957: Recalibrating the Course of Progress’  he said “at last we have a consensus on the free SHS policy.” Nana Addo was commenting on the dramatic U-turn made by the government in accepting that Free SHS was feasible and would roll it in to action in 2015. The 2012 Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has reiterated his belief that revenues from Ghana’s new oil wealth must be invested in the youth of the country, as it has the potential of yielding numerous dividends for the country.

Delivering a speech yesterday at a symposium organised by the Royal African Society and the Centre of African Studies, SOAS, in London yesterday, Nana Akufo-Addo explained that Africa generally has the youngest population in the world, adding that it is about time African governments paid more attention to ensuring that a future of hopelessness is not created for this large demographic group.
