Kufuor Ditches Alan

Former President John Kufuor does not support any of the Candidates vying for the Flagbearer slot of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), party Chairman Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey has said.

Mr Kufuor has always been alleged to support twice-failed flagbearer aspirant Alan Kyeremanten against twice-defeated NPP flagbearer Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The former President’s alleged support for the former Trades Minister and failed Director-General aspirant of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) has led to factionalism (Kufuor and Akufo-Addo camps) in the party, according to pollster Ben Ephson. Continue reading

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) wishes to assure its supporters and all Ghanaians that the party remains focused and united behind its necessary ongoing reorganization process, as it prepares towards the 2016 general elections and that no volumes of poisonous propaganda can hide the truth that ours is a party in good shape, preparing to be in a better shape.

Contrary to the false impression that the pro-government media houses are actively seeking to create that the party is ‘split’, ‘imploding’ and in ‘disarray’, we remain bonded together by our common cause of working together to win power to rescue the people of Ghana from this era of despair, hardships and endemic corruption.

We are dismayed but not entirely surprised that a State-owned media like the Daily Graphic, with all the resources and capacity at its disposal will join the NDC bandwagon of false propaganda against the NPP.  This journalism of ‘by-force equalization’ to balance the incompetence of the NDC government with negative stories about an opposition party is unproductively petty and must stop.  Continue reading

Aspiring General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Agyapong is confident party delegates will elect him as the General Secretary ahead of the upcoming congress in March.

Akufo-Addo Pays Tribute To His Personal Friend, Komla Dumor

Akufo Addo Tribute

The Flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party in the 2012 presidential elections, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo has described the death of Komla Dumor as “a deep loss not just to media and journalism in Ghana but to Africa and the world” in a statement released today.

He said the world is the poorer for his passing as Komla Dumor’s professional and diligent approach turned him into a role model for many young journalists in Ghana and Africa.

“Komla has been a source of great pride and joy to all Ghanaians as a hard working media practitioner who strove for excellence in journalism. I recall his trailblazing radio morning show in our country”, the statement said.

Komla Dumor died Saturday morning after a cardiac arrest in London at age 41.

Isaac Osei Declares His Interest In NPP Flagbearership

One of the five presidential hopefuls of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2010, Isaac Osei says he could stand again.

“I stood before and I can stand again”, the former Ghanaian Ambassador to the United Kingdom and Ireland in the Kufuor administration, told Moro Awudu on the XYZ Breakfast Show on Monday.

Though he refused to state categorically if he will run again ahead of the 2016 general national elections, the former Chief Executive of the Ghana Cocoa Board said he will make an announcement to that effect at the right time.

Pressed further by Moro Awudu to declare a stance, the Subin Legislator said: “circumstances change, things change and decisions have to be made on the basis of what is happening around you”.

The party’s General Secretary, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, recently told XYZ News that the door is closed to all aspirants eyeing the presidency in 2016, except for the party’s twice-defeated presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

His comments followed a public pronouncement by another former Aspirant, Alan Kyeremanten, that he is still interested in contesting.

Months earlier, another failed aspirant, Dr Kofi Konadu Apraku, took issue with the party’s Secretary for expressing blatant bias for Nana Akufo-Addo.
