The New Patriotic Party Vice Presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, on Sunday joined thousands of fellow Muslims in the Tamale Metropolis to celebrate Eid ul-Fitr to mark end of the month long Ramadan fast.

Dr. Bawumia, who had been in the metropolis since Friday joined worshippers, led by the Regional Chief Imam, at the Jubilee Park early Sunday morning for prayers to end the fast.

In a message released earlier by the NPP Running Mate to congratulate fellow Muslims countrywide on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast, he was hopeful that the sacrifices undertaken would lead to bountiful rewards in the personal lives of Muslims as well as in their communities and the nation at large. On behalf of the Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Akufo-Addo and on my own behalf, I am pleased to congratulate all Muslims throughout our country and the world over on the successful completion of our month long sacred Ramadan fast.

The past 30 days has been a period of great sacrifice, a time we have abstained from the physical pleasures of life in order for us to seek immeasurable blessings from Allah, our Maker. In the past month, we have studied and recited the Holy Qu’ran, the teachings of the Holy Prophet, supported each other and shared with the needy so that we may be found pleasing in the eyes of Allah, the most merciful.

On this all important date in our calendar as we mark the end of the fasting period, it is time to be glad and to rejoice for we have strengthened ourselves spiritually and we have sought blessings and favours from Allah which we do know he has and would fulfill.

We should also be glad that we have gone through this period in harmony and we have lived with each other in unity and utmost tranquillity. Continue reading


Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice-Presidential Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has thanked the Muslim and Zongo Communities greatly for the support accorded him since his nomination as Running Mate to Nana Akufo-Addo for the December 2012 General elections.

Dr. Bawumia said this on the fourth leg of his Ramadan tour which has already seen him visiting various mosques and Zongo Communities in the Accra, Cape Coast and Takoradi.

Speaking to worshippers at the Darul Hadith Al-suna mosque in Aboabo after partaking in the Asr prayer, Dr. Bawumia said “so far I have been overwhelmed by the tremendous support shown me. Your prayers, advice and words of encouragement and support have been unimaginably helpful to me and my team. All I can do is to thank all Imams, Chiefs of Zongo Communities and indeed all members of the Muslim and Zongo Communities across the country and even those outside the shores of Ghana. Bawumia Mobbed As He Takes Ramadan Tour to Sekondi-Takoradi

The Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Tuesday, was mobbed in various parts of the Sekondi-Takoradi Municipality when he took his series of Ramadan tours to municipality.

The visit saw him touring numerous Mosques and Zongo communities in the municipality to fraternize with fellow Muslims in the twin city beginning from the Takoradi Central Mosque where Dr. Bawumia partook in the afternoon Zuhr Prayers.

Speaking at the Central Mosque, Dr. Bawumia disclosed that he had decided to embark on the Ramadan tour to interact and seek the prayers of fellow Muslims in the powerful Ramadan month. He called on the Imam and Mallams of the Mosque to constantly pray for the Nation and its development. Continue reading

The month of Ramadan, the ninth month of the lunar calendar, is unquestionably a great and memorable month among Muslims all around the globe. It is indeed, the month within which all Muslims are entreated to be much more obedient to Almighty Allah and also to be law abiding in every sphere of life and human endeavour.

The Nasara Wing of the NPP, being the accredited Muslim Wing of the party, wants to deeply associate itself with the blessings in this holy month in order to herald the peace and tranquility that has always characterized the nature of the good people of this country. Continue reading

Akufo-Addo to introduce “Zongo” Development Fund

As part of his programme to build a society of opportunities in Ghana, the 2012 Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, has announced that the next NPP administration, under his leadership, will introduce a development fund for the Zongos and other deprived communities in urban Ghana to confront the socio-economic challenges which the inhabitants face.

Called the Inner-city Development Fund, this critical social policy for urban regeneration forms part of the NPP manifesto commitments. The party’s manifesto for December elections is to be launched in August. Continue reading
