DR. BAWUMIA CONSOLES FAMILY OF NPP CONSTITUENCY SECRETARY

The Running Mate to the 2012 Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Wednesday, paid a visit to the family of Sheriff Mohammed, the 25 year-old Okaikoi North Secretary of the party, who was stabbed by two unidentified men, suspected to be political opponents of the NPP on 8th April at Fadama.

Dr. Bawumia, who arrived unannounced at the residence to the surprise of the family, expressed his sadness at, especially, the circumstances surrounding the death of the young man.

He said, “Sheriff was a hard working and intelligent young man who died seeking to help deepen our democratic process as a country.

“He fought hard for his party and remained committed to the values of the party right until his last breath and the least the party and its leadership can do is to come and show our support to the family in these trying times”, he added.

Dr. Bawumia urged the family to take consolation in the fact that Allah knows best and that Allah gives and takes at His will.

The NPP Running Mate indicated his abhorrence at the politics of violence and tasked the security agencies to work with utmost seriousness as they do in other cases in bringing to book the culprits of the heinous crime.

In response, Sheriff’s parents thanked the NPP Running Mate for making time to come and mourn with the family in such trying times.

They expressed their deep grief over the death of their son, a University graduate, adding that they did not in the least expect such terrible misfortune to befall them.

The family however noted that they have chosen to remain strong knowing that their son is with Allah.

The NPP Running Mate informed the family of his readiness to help the family and asked the family to call on him anytime they were in need as he would keep his doors open to them.
